The
Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (LAFOIP) Act is intended to strike a balance between the public's right to know and the individual's right to privacy, as these rights relate to information held by the Saskatoon Board of Education. The act ensures individuals have the right to access their own personal information. It also provides for access to other records held by the school division and includes strict standards that the school division must follow for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information.
