Marion M. Graham Collegiate Student - Athlete Patrick Traves

This has been a wonderful year for Marion M. Graham Collegiate basketball and very memorable for the team manager Patrick Traves, a student in the Marion M. Graham Collegiate Functional Life Skills program. On the opening evening of the Bedford Road Invitational Tournament (BRIT), coach Dan Dewar put Traves into the game with about 30 seconds to play. Traves took an in-bounds pass and made his way down the court to score a basket against their opponents from Scots College in Australia to the delight of the jampacked gymnasium crowd. This was a true example of sportsmanship and inclusion by both teams and turned into the feel-good moment of the entire tournament. The video of Patrick’s performance went viral on the internet and garnered attention from the local media.

Patrick will be in attendance to share his story of that special evening. He will be accompanied by his coach, Mr. Dan Dewar (coach of the 2015 city champion boys basketball team), and his principal Mr. Doug Njaa
