Collegiate French Immersion
Collegiate FI web.jpgFrench Immersion at the collegiate level builds on students’ established language skills while also building competency in curricular subjects. It is for students whose first language is not French and who have taken kindergarten to Grade 8 French Immersion, late French Immersion or who have equivalent fluency. 
To maintain their French Immersion status in high school and to be recognized as bilingual on their diploma, students are required to complete a minimum of 12 credits in French in Grades 10, 11 and 12 (i.e., three to five courses per year where French is the language of instruction). Required credits include three French language arts courses; the remaining nine credits can be in the existing area of study or electives that are taught in French. Students are also required to complete three credits in English language arts.
