Montessori 1.jpgApplications will be available for the 2023 - 2024 school year and will be due by March 31st.  The lottery will be conducted on April 3rd 2023.

Our school is home to a a lower elementary (Grades 1-3) classroom as well as Casa (kindergarten) classroom. In order to be registered for Casa, students must be five years old by January 31 of the school year in which they are registered.

The Montessori program will continue to grow and expand with the students and families.  By 2023/2024 we are anticipating adding an upper elementary classroom (Grades 4-6).  As of Spring 2023 we are accepting registrations for our grades 4-6 program and if we have enough registrations on our waiting list we will open a 4-6 classroom.

In the program, Montessori philosophy and methodology is used to deliver Saskatchewan curricula. Based on Maria Montessori's educational ideals of following the child, learning is individualized and presented to match the stages of development of children.

During a daily independent work cycle (two-plus hours), students may choose from prepared Montessori materials to work at their individual pace. Freedom within limits allows for each child to set goals and develop the independence and self-regulation to achieve. The teacher assumes the role of educational guide, offering individual, small group and large group presentations as needed by the students. The multi-year learning cycle allows all children in the class to work at varying levels, on various topics of interest at any grade level within the cycle.

The Casa kindergarten class at Lakeridge is the first Montessori kindergarten program offered in Saskatchewan through a school division. Maria Montessori called her program for early childhood "the casa dei bambini" or "the children's house." The Casa program takes place in a warm setting scaled to and prepared entirely for children.

There is no tuition for students attending the school division program.

The program at Lakeridge is open to students with or without prior Montessori experience, though prior Montessori experience is an asset. While the program is open to all students, preference is given to students who reside in Saskatoon city limits.

Bussing is available to Lakeridge School for students who reside in the Briarwood and Lakewood neighbourhoods.  Please see the map outlining where bussing is available.  Please note:  Casa students will only be able to ride the bus to school.  Families will need to make other arrangements for dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
