Schools welcome families to kindergarten open houses during January

December 03, 2018

Kindergarten is a special time and place in the life of a young child and Saskatoon Public Schools is dedicated to embracing every student in a safe and welcoming environment.

Most of our schools will be holding open house events during the month of January to provide parents with an introduction to the school and classroom and to answer questions about everything that kindergarten has to offer students and families.

If your child will be five years old by Jan. 31, 2020, your child can start Kindergarten in September 2019. To choose the right Kindergarten program for your child, we invite you to visit the school in your neighbourhood.

Saskatoon Public Schools understands the importance of early learning and literacy. Our Kindergarten classes are small to encourage individualized education and our Literacy for Life learning priority includes a strong literacy component in Kindergarten.

Kindergarten classes are offered on either a half-day, every day or full-day, alternating day format, depending upon the individual school. More information is available on the Kindergarten program website.

Six schools offer both English language and French Immersion kindergarten programs: École Alvin Buckwold, École College Park, École Dundonald, École Forest Grove, École Lakeview, and École River Heights school. Single-stream French Immersion kindergarten programs are available at École Henry Kelsey and École Victoria schools.

The Nêhiyâwiwin Cree Language and Culture Program is hosted at Confederation Park Community School and the Métis Cultural Program is located at Westmount Community School.
