About Our School

Nutana Collegiate is a unique community high school in the heart of Saskatoon where students, staff and community partners work together to create a place for learning in a variety of innovative ways. In addition to offering a full range of regular academic courses for students from grades 10 to 12, we offer academic upgrading and an Adult 12 program to mature students ages 18 to 21. Most of our students are at the senior level completing core graduation requirements or upgrading their marks for specific post-secondary programs.

At Nutana, students are supported to achieve success by taking courses in a quarter system format. The quarter system allows students to complete a course in 10 weeks and there are four times to begin courses during the school year (September, November, January and April). Classes are available in all the core academic courses, including stretch classes in English language arts, math and health science, and we provide a variety of electives. Classes are scheduled in the mornings from 10 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and in the afternoons from 1:05 to 3:25 p.m. This format leads to focused learning and meaningful relationships between students and staff. By individualizing learning and other supports, we strive to respond to students' interests and needs, and we encourage students to develop competencies that will empower them in the future.

At Nutana, students have the opportunity to engage in career and experiential learning opportunities that allow them to explore different careers, develop skills in specialized areas and engage in today’s competitive job market. We also offer the MAGPIE (Manifest Academic Growth and Promote Indigenous Excellence) initiative. During the semester, students learn language, history, customs, protocols and everyday realities of Indigenous lifestyles in an urban school setting. Our onsite student services include Millie’s Early Learning Centre for young children, the Jacoby Centre, which provides student-parent support, a daily breakfast program and Stay in School program.

Students tell us they feel like they belong at Nutana and enjoy the school’s mature setting — one that allows them to meet their academic goals. Our graduates go on to university, technical and business schools, and the world of work.
