Royal Adult Campus
​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Roya​l Adult Campus offers learners between the ages of 18 and 21 the opportunity to study in a format that suits their lifestyle while working towards a Ministry of Education Adult 12. To support academic achievement and social and emotional well-being, Royal Adult Campus provides students with access to counsellors, Indigenous student advocates, a Restorative Action Program worker, nurse practitioner, community school coordinator, Universal Lunch program and a daycare. Mount Royal Collegiate’s comprehensive school programming combines academics with a full complement of fine arts and practical and applied arts courses in skilled trades. Students can earn apprenticeship hours toward skilled trades through machining, mechanics, welding and more.
 

Adult 12 Criteria 

An adult, as defined in The Education Act, 1995, is a person who is 18 years old and has been out of school for at least one year or a person who is 19 years old. Students who meet this criterion are enrolled in the Adult 12 program.

The Adult 12 program* permits students to obtain Grade 12 standing by successfully completing the following courses:
  • ​English Language Arts A30
  • English Language Arts B30
  • History 30 or Native Studies 30
  • Math 20 or 30
  • Science 20 or 30
  • Two 30-level electives.​
Adult learners also have the option of challenging provincial examinations.​ Click here for more information about provincial examinations.

*Prerequisite requirements are waived for adults. 

Program ​Highlights

  • Continuous intake of students until March 31 of each school year.
  • Students work at their own pace to meet core graduation requirements or to upgrade marks for specific post-secondary programs. This means students complete their courses as quickly or as slowly as they wish.
  • Students receive individualized, teacher-facilitated instruction.
  • Students can earn apprenticeship hours toward skilled trades and have access to a wide range of 30-level elective courses, including commercial cooking, construction and carpentry, cultural arts, foods, hairstyle and esthetics, machining, mechanics, photography, physical education, visual arts, welding and more.
  • Students have access to nutrition support and cultural activities. 
  • Students with children have access to an onsite daycare​.

To register in person, please call the Student Services office at 306-683-7806 to book an appointment. At the appointment, students will choose their courses with a school administrator or counsellor.

To register online, click here. Students who register online will be contacted by a school administrator or counsellor to choose their courses in the days following online registration or at the beginning of the school year, if registering during the summer.​
