Montgomery School is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 school located in the heart of Saskatoon's Montgomery neighbourhood, one of the city's most beautiful residential areas. Montgomery School has been serving the community since 1956. A new addition to the school opened in May 2003.
At Montgomery, we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, challenging, and caring learning community where respect and responsibility guide our actions. We are recognized as a Centre of Science Excellence.
Montgomery is unique because of our Grade 8 ScienceTrek program. ScienceTrek combines experiential science with outdoor pursuits, creating an exciting learning environment. Students study Grades 8 and 9 Science curricula, enabling them to take Grade 10 Science in their Grade 9 year. This helps students manage a full complement of sciences in high school. Each year, 28 students and two teachers embark on the trek of a lifetime!
Having observed the enthusiasm displayed by our ScienceTrek students, we moved to include all students in core innovative programming by becoming a Centre of Science Excellence. We promote inquiry learning and integrate science across curricula. All students, Kindergarten to Grade 8, participate in weekly science labs. Our school was awarded Emerald School Status (500 environmental actions) by the SEEDS Foundation in 2006, we were awarded a Provincial Enviro-Action Grant in 2008, and received the Environmental Activism Award-Saskatchewan EcoNetwork in 2009.
We are fortunate to have the Little Sprouts Preschool within Montgomery School, operated by preschool teacher, Mrs. Ailish Irwin. The preschool functions as a cooperative, offering classes for 3 and 4-year olds. Preschool classes begin in September and finish at the end of May. Preschool sessions and breaks coincide with the Saskatoon Public Schools schedule. For more information on our preschool, please contact Little Sprouts Preschool at 306-242-1882. (The message manager will be checked weekly over the summer.)
