The foundation awarded a 2016 Quality of Life Grant worth $10,000 to the Lakeridge Playground Project Committee. It will help fund the replacement of Phase 1 of the playground project, the play structure owned by Saskatoon Public Schools.

β€œOn behalf of the Lakeridge Playground Project Committee, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Saskatoon Community Foundation for their generous $10,000 contribution to our project," said committee member and Lakeridge School teacher Kelli Fredlund.

"The replacement of the this playground will provide a positive space to encourage physical activity and creative play for the more than 600 students at Lakeridge School and hundreds of families in Lakeridge and the surrounding areas."

The current playground located behind Lakeridge School is 27 years old. The renovation project will be completed in two phases, with Phase 1 of the playground expected to be replaced this summer. Fundraising continues for the second phase of the project – the play structure owned by the City of Saskatoon – with the goal of completing this section by summer 2017.

Saskatoon Community Foundation manages endowed funds worth more than $35 million, with over $63 million in total assets managed. Saskatoon Community Foundation granted more than $5.2 million to charities in 2015.
