June is Pride month!

June 01, 2023
PRIDE_1.pngPride month gives us an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate our own understanding of gender and sexual diversity and to demonstrate our values of Safe, Caring and Accepting school environments for all. For many years, Saskatoon Public Schools staff and students have celebrated Pride month in various thoughtful ways. We are proud of SPS staff (past and present) who have been leaders and innovators in supporting 2SLGBTQ+ students and colleagues.

2023-01-06_Pride.jpgOn June 1, the Inclusive Pride Flag was raised on the rooftop of Central Office to celebrate the beginning of Pride month. Thank you to the leaders of our Saskatoon Public Schools’ Pride Network for their participation in the flag raising this morning. The SPS Pride Network was established to bring 2SLGBTQ+ employees together to network and help continue to move Saskatoon Public Schools forward in an inclusive and positive way.

Saskatoon Public Schools (SPS) will celebrate Pride across the division on Friday, June 16. All staff and students are invited to wear their SPS Pride shirts and other symbols of Pride on this day.

The Saskatoon Pride Parade is once again in-person and taking place on Saturday, June 17 at 1 p.m. Since 2017, Saskatoon Public Schools has participated in the Saskatoon Pride Parade and we couldn’t be happier to be walking, rolling, strolling, skating and dancing together once again this year! We are inviting SPS staff and students to join us as we gather to celebrate Pride. This event is a celebration of our inclusive community and our participation is a show of support for our 2SLGBTQ+ students, families and staff members.

Parade marshalling will take place at the corner of Spadina Cres E and 24th St East between 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. (see map below).
