The quick reaction to keep students safe when a moose crashed into Sylvia Fedoruk School was recognized during the Dec.7 meeting of the Saskatoon Board of Education.
Two staff members of the Boys & Girls Club of Saskatoon ensured students were able to exit the building after the moose burst through a window just before 9 a.m. on Nov. 4. School staff members in a nearby classroom then quickly opened an outside door and brought everyone inside to a safe place. Thanks to the quick thinking and actions of the staff no one was seriously hurt — only one bandage was required.
The story was shared with trustees by school administrators, along with one of the students who was present on that day and his parent.
