Founded in 1968, the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) is a non-profit mission driven foundation that works with 3,518 schools to develop and offer three challenging programmes (Primary years, Middle years and Diploma) in 144 countries to approximately 1,077,000 students (www.ibo.org
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) was designed for students ages 16 -19 who are academically motivated and desire the rigorous curriculum often as a preparation for post secondary study. Candidates undergo internal and external assessment which is criterion referenced. A student who completes the IB Diploma Programme will not only gain an enhanced set of organizational, writing, speaking and collaborative skills, but the IB graduate is actively recruited by most universities in Canada, the United States and the world. A visit to any university's website would identify policy. At the University of Saskatchewan, students receive transfer credit for each higher level subject with an IB mark of at least 5 (on a scale of 1-7).

Bedford Road Collegiate is a diverse community that prides itself on its traditions as it strives for excellence in preparing students for the 21st century. We are very proud to be the first school in Saskatoon to be designated an IB World School. This is a testament to the recognition that at Bedford Road, we value the notion that our beloved community is very much part of a global consciousness. We acknowledge and embrace that combined with scholarship, our values of tolerance, respect and compassion fit perfectly with the IBO's mission to encourage students to become active, well rounded, influential citizens of their local and global communities.
The IB faculty is committed to each student's successful navigation of his/her IB Programme. We acknowledge that while the expectations of the programme are rigorous in nature, it is our privilege to act as guides in a supportive environment. It's the Bedford way.
