Since opening its doors in 1923, Bedford Road Collegiate has established a distinguished history and tradition, which has helped the school cultivate an atmosphere that can be best described as a family. Students, present and past, view Bedford with great pride and loyalty. It is not uncommon for our students to be children, grandchildren or even great-grandchildren of former graduates.
Upon entering Bedford Road, students and visitors are met by hallways lined with photos of past graduating classes, staff and student representative councils, as well as trophy cases stocked with awards and an honour roll of the 55 alumni who bravely fought and died in World War II. In all, tens of thousands of men and women are associated with the best of Bedford's academic, social and sporting traditions. Ask any of our current students and staff and they'll tell you they feel it too, and like those who came before them, they wish to add their chapter to the school's honoured past.
Bedford is a small, close-knit community that is home to almost 600 students and staff. While there is a large enough student body to offer several course options, the school is small enough to ensure that students and staff enjoy a special rapport in an atmosphere that is warm and personal. We offer academic programming for all types of learners to meet unique needs, including regular courses, modified courses and programs for gifted learners, such as
SAGE and the

Every year since 1968, our students and staff have hosted the Bedford Road Invitational Basketball Tournament (BRIT), one of Canada's best-known high school boys' basketball tournaments. BRIT is a highlight of the school year. It's a time that brings students from all groups, staff, alumni and the community together.
