Opening the Portal: Engaging Online Learners Through Video Games

"Life is more fun if you play games" – Roald Dahl.  In this unique ELA course, students have the opportunity to learn by playing video games.  Students get to choose which game they would like to study and will have the opportunity to analyze theme, characters, and storytelling, as well as think about how video games fit into the larger world around us.  In an age where young learners are increasingly digital, this course looks at building social and emotional skills through this media, as well as practical communication skills. 

Students choosing this course will be required to have a console as well as access to a variety of different games.
