When can my child start kindergarten?
If your child will be five years old by January 31, they can start kindergarten in September. 


What options are available for kindergarten?
We offer a variety of kindergarten programming, including:
  • Half-day, everyday
  • Full-day, alternating day
  • Full-day, everyday

Where should I register my child?
Kindergarten students can register at any school of their choice. However, most students register at the school that serves the neighbourhood where they live, also known as their catchment area. Please note that priority will be given to students who live in the neighbourhood.

Families are welcome to submit a kindergarten application in the spring. Applications are also accepted throughout the year.

How do I register my child?
To register for a kindergarten program, please contact the school where the program is offered. A list of our schools and their contact information can be found here.

Note: Students interested in full-day kindergarten must apply before registering as spaces are limited. 


The school team reviews applications in June and will confirm placement in the full-day kindergarten program by the end of the month. If the kindergarten is full, you will be contacted to discuss other options.

If registering after the school year has begun, the school will be able to inform you if there is availability.


Yes, schools welcome families to visit and ask questions. To schedule a tour, please contact the school directly.


School supply lists for each school are available on school websites in June. In addition to the supplies listed on your school website, please ensure your child has a backpack, change of clothes and indoor shoes.
