Students in Saskatoon Public Schools' elementary schools and collegiates will begin the 2021-22 school year on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.
Many elementary schools will welcome back kindergarten to Grade 8 students with a staggered start schedule to support a smooth return to classes. Additional information about school-specific operations for back to school will be shared in August.
Collegiates will also be using a staggered start or designated attendance times on Sept. 1 as they welcome incoming Grade 9 students as well as returning students. All students will attend together on Thursday, Sept. 2. High school students and families can contact their collegiate for information about the back-to-school schedule.
For students and families new to Saskatoon Public Schools or those who may be changing schools for the new school year, an early registration opportunity will be held at all elementary schools on Thursday, Aug. 26, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Families may also register their student on Sept. 1 or in the days leading up to the first day of classes.
Students in Grade 9-12 may contact the collegiate of their choice for information or to register for fall classes during the summer months. School offices are open Monday to Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday until noon. Registration and course selection information is available on all collegiate websites and registration forms can be submitted via email or in person. Students may also contact the school to make an appointment with a counsellor to discuss course selection prior to registering.
Students and families who are new to Canada or are not Canadian citizens should contact the Newcomer Student Centre to register for classes. The centre offers registration and language assessments by appointment only for those families who wish to register students for the upcoming year. Please call 306-683-8400 or email email@example.com for an appointment.
Online learning delivered by Saskatoon Public Schools teachers will again be available for kindergarten to Grade 12 students during the 2021-22 school year.
The online program for kindergarten to Grade 8 will offer full-time curriculum options, including French immersion. Online programming will be provided through both synchronous (teacher online with the students at the same time) and asynchronous (students access course content on their own at any time) delivery models. For kindergarten to Grade 8 registration, families are asked to complete the full-time registration form.
For high school registration, students may, with the support of parents/guardians, register for online learning on a part-time or full-time basis. Please inform Student Services at your home collegiate of your intent to register with the OLC virtual school.
