Eight SPS collegiates moving to Level 3 starting Nov. 19

November 13, 2020

EHCI_Stock-20.pngFollowing a recommendation from the provincial government, eight collegiates in Saskatoon Public Schools will be moving to Level 3 based on the Safe Schools Plan.

On November 13, the provincial government announced that it is recommending all high schools with enrolments over 600 move to Level 3 in the Safe Schools Plan. Level 3 calls for reduced time learning face-to-face, a shift to some at-home learning, and a reduction in the number of students in the school at the same time.

Saskatoon Public Schools has chosen to implement this recommendation for our collegiates. The move to Level 3 will take effect Thursday, November 19 for eight collegiates. Due to enrolment size, City Park School, Nutana Collegiate and Royal West Campus will not be impacted. The Online Learning Centre will operate as scheduled. The new schedule will be in place for the remainder of Quint 2, which ends December 17.

Starting Thursday, students will begin attending in-class learning for a reduced amount of the time, while completing some learning activities independently at home when they aren't in school. Until then, regular in-school classes will continue Monday through Wednesday.

The patience of students and families is appreciated as staff make the shift to this new schedule. Early next week, collegiates will provide details to families regarding the school's schedule.

Our students and staff members have done an amazing job of following safety protocols in schools and reducing the risk of spreading the virus. However, the safety of our schools is dependent on our community being safe. We appreciate your consideration of these safety precautions:

  • Monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19;
  • Ask your child how they are feeling each day before they leave for school;
  • If you/your child has any symptoms of COVID-19, please call HealthLine at 811 and stay home;
  • If your child has cold or flu symptoms – even if they have a negative COVID test – please keep them home until they are symptom free for 48 hours; and,
  • Help us take care of one another by following these preventative measures inside and outside of school.
