First day of school for all division students is Thursday, Sept. 1

backtoschool_elem.jpgThe first day of September will also be the first day of school for all Saskatoon Public Schools students as they head back to classes on Thursday, Sept. 1.

Elementary school students will attend for registration during the morning only on Sept. 1 and will be dismissed for the day at the school’s usual lunch time dismissal. The regular class schedule for elementary students begins on Friday, Sept. 2.

High school students register on Sept. 1 and the regular, full-day class schedule begins the same day.

Parents seeking information on registering their children for fall should contact their neighbourhood elementary or high school directly. In-person registration at elementary schools is available at the individual schools beginning in late August. During July and August, parents can call the school and leave a voicemail with their contact information for school staff to return. Questions about bell times and specific inquiries about the start of kindergarten classes should be directed to the school where the student has been registered.

Parents seeking to register students in a French Immersion program should consult our website for information on the French Immersion school that serves their particular neighbourhood.

High school registration can be done in-person during the summer months at the collegiate of the student’s choice. Collegiate office hours during the summer months are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Some offices may close for the lunch hour between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. so students and parents are advised to phone ahead.

New Canadians wanting registration information should contact or visit the Newcomer Student Centre located at the board office at 310 21st Street East. The centre is open beginning Monday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. daily.

Families living in the Stonebridge neighbourhood have several options for fall. Transportation for students is provided to four schools for English programming: John Lake School, École Alvin Buckwold School, Prince Philip School and Hugh Cairns V.C. School. French Immersion programming is also available to Stonebridge families, with Kindergarten to Grade 7 at École Alvin Buckwold School, and Grade 8 only at École Lakeview School.

Kensington neighbourhood students are encouraged to register at Lester B. Pearson School for English programs or at École Henry Kelsey for French Immersion. Free busing is provided for all Kensington students.

Hampton Village students can register for English-language programs at Caroline Robins Community School or Dundonald School or French Immersion at École Henry Kelsey. Free busing is provided for Hampton Village students.

Students in the Evergreen neighbourhood may register at Dr. John G. Egnatoff School, Silverspring School or Willowgrove School for English-language programs. A French Immersion program is available at École Forest Grove School. Free busing is provided for Evergreen students.

Students from Rosewood are encouraged to register at Wildwood School for English programming or at École Lakeview School for French Immersion. Free busing is provided for all Rosewood students.
