Student artwork creates a window on history, reconciliation

May 17, 2016

Lester B Library.jpgA group of Grade 7/8 students at Lester B. Pearson School used their artistic skills to create a timeline from pre-contact to reconciliation, with a strong emphasis on treaty and harmony.

The students identified some key time periods, symbols and images and then sketched their ideas on paper. One student then input colour to the images using a computer so the group of artists had a clear idea of the colour scheme and how the different images would work together.

The images were then outlined on the windows of the school's learning resource centre with dry erase markers and then paint was added to complete the timeline.
