About Our School
École Henry Kelsey is unique among Saskatoon Public Schools. We are one of two elementary schools to offer a single stream French Immersion program. What this means is that French Immersion is the only program in the school. This adds many benefits to the immersion experience (e.g., French is the working language of the school, assemblies and special events are typically presented in French, and supports and resources are available in French).

Our French Immersion program follows the curricula of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. The program is open to all — no previous experience in French is needed for students or their parents. Many parents report learning the language alongside their children as they advance through the program. Typical entry to the program occurs in kindergarten or Grade 1.

Our school has approximately 250 students enrolled from kindergarten to Grade 8. The smaller size of our school contributes to our welcoming and caring culture. Upon entering École Henry Kelsey, parents report sensing a warm and inviting atmosphere. As you walk around the school, you will encounter happy students and friendly staff, wonderful artwork on the walls, and vibrant and energetic classrooms. Students at École Henry Kelsey are known, valued and believed in by staff and fellow students.

At École Henry Kelsey, we value the important partnership between home, school and community. We work closely with our School Community Council in supporting both learning and family engagement. We aim to communicate effectively so that families are partners and collaborators in their child(ren)'s education.

Our students participate in extracurricular activities and often compete in sporting events with other schools in the city. The clubs we offer vary from year to year based on student interest and teacher abilities. We are proud of our outdoor learning spaces. Our students extend their learning outside in our beautiful park, playground and garden spaces.

Our students come to us from across Saskatoon's west side. Two-way transportation is provided to families in our catchment area at no cost. Please contact the office to find out if your address qualifies for busing.

The future opportunities for students who learn French are unlimited as they move on to the world of work, post-secondary education and travel. Come join us on your journey of learning an additional language.

We are always excited to show off our school. Please contact us to book a personal tour with the principal.
